Viaero Fiber High-Speed Internet for All
For many rural communities, high-speed internet access is often costly and not guaranteed. This makes videoconferencing, streaming, staying in touch with loved ones, and other staples of modern life challenging.
Fortunately, national and state governments have established programs to help rural and low-income residents better afford high-speed connectivity.
Federal Grants for
High-Speed Internet Access
Passed under former President Joe Biden, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has provided $65 billion in funding to help connect everyone in the U.S. with affordable, reliable high-speed internet access. Improved connectivity brings numerous benefits, including more connected communities, lower health costs, more engaged students, and more opportunities for businesses to compete for talent and attract customers online. Eligible applicants include states and internet providers.
If you or a loved one needs high-speed internet access, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) offers the Lifeline Support for Affordable Communicators program. It gives subscribers discounts on qualifying internet service, monthly telephone service, or bundled voice-broadband packages purchased from participating wireless or wireline providers. This discount helps low-income and rural consumers afford high-quality connectivity services and the access they provide to educational resources, healthcare services, and jobs.

Colorado Grants for
High-Speed Internet Access
Colorado's new Advance Colorado Broadband state-managed grant programs deploy federal funding for projects that bridge the state's digital divide, invest in capital assets, and help residents thrive anywhere in the state. The goal is to connect 99% of Colorado households to high-speed broadband by 2027.
Advanced Colorado Broadband offers three grant programs:
- The Capital Projects Fund invests in broadband projects that expand or improve infrastructure or make high-speed internet access easy and affordable for all state residents.
- Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment will invest $826.5 million into Colorado's broadband infrastructure and connect underserved and unserved businesses and homes.
- State and Local Dollars will award state funding to last-mile, middle-mile, and non-deployment projects.
Political subdivisions, tribal governments, cooperatives, and broadband internet providers can apply to this program.
Nebraska Grants for
High-Speed Internet Acces
In 2021, Nebraska established the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program (NBBP) to fund the deployment of broadband networks in underserved and unserved areas of the state.
Eligible applicants for this program include political subdivisions, cooperatives, tribal governments, and broadband internet providers. Learn more by reading the materials on the NBBP/Capital Projects Fund (CPF) site.
Kansas Grants for
High-Speed Internet Access
Like Colorado and Nebraska, Kansas has established a grant program for addressing broadband gaps in the state: the Broadband Acceleration Grant Program. Launched in 2020, the program will invest $85 million over 10 years to bridge the digital divide in Kansas.
Priority will be given to applications that address economically distressed communities, unserved areas, and areas of compelling need.
